Our IFMA-SV Chapter website is dedicated to the people and practices of the Facilities industry. We aim to facilitate networking, sharing, and education both locally and throughout the international network of IFMA Chapters- because in today’s dynamic world, a community can range in size from two members to several thousand strong!
Founded in 1980, the International Facility Management Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the informational and educational needs of facility management executives and their staffs. With more than 23,000 members and 130 chapters, 17 councils in 85 countries worldwide, IFMA promotes efficient, sustainable, effective, safe and humane workplaces.
Facility management is the practice of coordinating the physical workplace with the people and practice of the organization; it integrates principles of business administration, architecture, and both behavioral and engineering sciences.
The scope of facility professionals’ job responsibilities is both diverse and continually evolving. Major functions include but are not limited to: developing corporate facility plans; coordinating construction, renovation, and relocation projects; purchasing furnishings; equipment, and outside facility services; supervising building operations, maintenance, and engineering; and managing real estate procurement and disposal.
