UL Fire Alarm Service Certification

The major focus of this breakfast will be on UL’s Fire Alarm Service Certification program. Participants will learn about the certification program that delivers the highest level of confidence in alarm systems, between property owners, service providers, and other stakeholders; including code authorities, insurance companies, and government agencies. UL’s technical experts asses alarm companies for their ability to install, maintain, test, inspect, and monitor alarm systems, provide runner service, as well as communicate with the proper authorities.

Todd M. Iaeger, UL

Todd joined UL’s Building and Life Safety Technologies Group as an AHJ Educational Outreach Specialist and Alarm System Auditor with the Life Safety and Security Division; Fire Alarm Certificate Services Program in 2016 after working 26 years in public safety as a police officer, firefighter and fire marshal in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Todd provides educational outreach and technical training to the AHJ community throughout the Unites States and completes audits of UL Listed Fire Alarm Service Companies. He is based in Pennsylvania assigned to the UL Facility in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Todd is a certified building inspector, fire and building plans examiner and fire investigator. He is an Adjunct Instructor as the National Fire Academy (NFA) in Emmitsburg, MD and has presented numerous training courses and contributed to publications related to the fire and building code enforcement, legal administration of code, code enforcement technology, fire investigation, expert witness testimony and fire investigations involving fire protection systems.

 

John McMahon, UL

John joined UL’s Building and Life Safety Technologies Group as an Alarm System Auditor within the Life Safety and Security Division; Fire Alarm Certificate Services Program in 2001 after working 23 years in the fire alarm industry. John completes audits of UL Listed Fire Alarm Service Companies throughout the United States as well as provides educational outreach and technical training to the AHJ community primarily on the West Coast. John holds a NICET Level II Certification and possesses system knowledge and expertise in fire, security, government and central station facilities applications. He is based in Southern California assigned to the UL Facility in Melville, New York.
