Disruptive Technologies that Impact on the Built Environment

This session will discuss valuable insights into the emerging workplace trends that disrupt the traditional office environment and how the changing workforce demographic has resulted in workplace technologies that are more responsive to the needs of the ever-changing built environment.

Knoll Inc. will share some of its more recent research findings into the emerging workplace trends to serve as a backdrop to the discussion of specific innovative workplace technologies. Specific examples of selected workplace technologies that have shown promising results would be presented.

Optimaze will present a case study how their innovative space utilization software tool continues to bring Genentech the experience and solid research approach that have been perfect for an innovative science-based company. Space utilization assessments determined that 2/3 spaces were underutilized. Reduced flexible leases resulted in $3 million annual reduction in operating costs.

Comfy, a fast-growing software company, will offer perspective on how technology can empower occupants to personalize their workplace experiences while helping employers unlock operational efficiencies and use data to drive better decisions.

DPR will share its best practices on BIM data being integrated into workplace systems in support of a Lifecycle Management model beyond Design/ Build. It will show that a combination of technology and a collaborative ideology yields the greatest returns.
