Facilities Managers are being challenged to provide a better workplace for employees not only as a recruiting tool and keeping employees, but also to provide a built environment that promotes improved health and well being. The WELL Building Standard® is the first of its kind to focus on environmental conditions within buildings that the typical American spends 90% of their time. The WELL Building Standard® provides the opportunity to design and build with a human-centered approach. By placing people at the heart of design, construction, operations and development decisions, facilities managers can help to improve human health and wellbeing and reduce the health care costs associated with chronic diseases. Using WELL or some of its components can generate a meaningful return on investment for the building company/owner in terms of increased productivity and adding value to real estate assets. In addition, it can provide health care cost savings for employees/tenants.

Renee Azerbegi, President of Ambient Energy, will provide an overview of the WELL Building Standard® and provide lessons learned on her current building projects. She is providing energy, commissioning, and/or sustainability consulting on several projects utilizing the WELL Building Standard for several large office buildings including Google and Kilroy Realty Corp, and a luxury condominium project. Ms. Azerbegi will also provide specific discussion points on the positive energy impact of WELL and provide several financial case studies.

Takeaways include:
- An overview of the WELL Building Standard®
- How can facilities managers use WELL to improve employee health and wellbeing
- What is the ROI using WELL when considering energy consumption using case studies
