Update of Changes to the Building Energy Efficiency Standards – Title 24
Synopsis of Program:
California’s energy code is designed to reduce wasteful and unnecessary energy consumption in newly constructed and existing buildings. The California Energy Commission updates the Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Title 24, Parts 6 and 11) every three years by working with stakeholders in a public and transparent process. Join IFMA Silicon Valley to learn about the Title 24 updates for 2023.
Our Speakers:
Scott Niles, Solution Sales Engineer – Lighting Controls at sixteen5hundred
Scott Niles is a California native, growing up on the central coast in the San Luis Obispo area which is where he completed his B.S. Degree at Cal Poly in the field of Electrical Engineering.
Scott worked in Aerospace for 5 years after college then in 2005 made the move to Northern California where he took a position at Summit Engineering. During his 3 year tenure, Scott learned the Electrical Construction process and designed electrical systems focusing in the arena of Wineries and Schools. This includes power distribution, lighting and fire alarm design along with Title 24 compliance for all projects.
In 2008 he shifted to the lighting agency world, taking a position at Lighting Systems as their San Francisco and North Bay specification sales representative. He was with Lighting Systems until 2016, then ventured into the manufacturer rep. world for two brief stents. After, Scott decided to do freelance work during the last 4 years. The jobs he took involved electrical design construction document creation, T24 compliance design, commercial and residential lighting design, installation, and commissioning as well as other non-lighting related projects.
Recently Scott decided to come back to the lighting agency world because of his love for the work. In his off time, Scott enjoys everything outdoors. Hiking, kayaking, snowboarding, camping, etc. Also, he would be remiss if he didn’t mention spending time with his 10 year old 85lb. puppy Apollo!
Joe Dung, Director of Total Solutions at sixteen5hundred
Joe Dung was born and raised in the Bay Area. He took a detour when he went away to college, attending Wisconsin’s Marquette University, where winter temperatures hover somewhere between 10 and 20 degrees. Joe received a BS in Biomedical Engineering, with a focus in Biocomputing and a minor in biological sciences. He began his career as a design engineer at Ultronic Systems in frigid Menomonee Falls, WI, developing hardware and software products. This experience helped develop a strong technical background; he has become skilled at problem-solving and identifying innovative techniques. The weather, our rich technology environment, family and his favorite sports teams drew Joe back to the Bay Area, and he’s glad to be back home.
