The need for communication and collaboration between departments couldn’t be required more than those from Facilities, Security, HR & IT. So many activities, events and incidents will and do occur in the building and when working from home. Learn how Katy Scott, Senior Director of Facilities and Site Services for Roche Molecular Solutions, Derek Adams, HR Leader with Texas Instruments, Al Velasco, NW Regional Safety & Training Manager at Allied Universal and an IT representative have prepared their organizations to respond to several incidents anywhere from political demonstrations, social unrest, wildfires and to employees both working from home and in hybrid scenarios.

Al Velasco- NW Regional Safety & Training Manager at Allied Universal

Al Velasco is the NW Regional Safety & Training Manager at Allied Universal. As a member of the Allied Universal leadership team, Al manages the delivery of the safety & training programs to the Northwest Region. Al’s overall responsibility is managing and ensuring his team provide professional training courses. He provides his team with the leadership to maintain a collaborative partnership with stakeholders who rely on his team to meet specific safety & training needs. Al is a retired police officer with years of training and management experience. His career in law enforcement involved many levels of experience ranging from patrol work, undercover operations, Detective Sergeant, crime scene investigator, Field Training Sergeant, & K-9 Sergeant. Al comes to AUS with 30 years of experience in safety & security. Al’s career also brings experience in the private security sector, where he has managed and trained thousands of police officers & security professionals, as well as private citizens in the areas of active shooter, workplace violence, firearms training, defensive tactics, and a variety of other safety related training. Al is a proud veteran of the U.S. Armed Services where he served tours in Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

 

Derek Adams- HR Leader at Texas Instruments

Derek Adams is the HR Leader at Texas Instruments in Santa Clara.  Prior to this he was the HR Leader at the Owens Corning Plant in anta Clara. Derek earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Indiana and an MBA, with focus in Human Resource Management, from Indiana Wesleyan University. Derek is currently serving on the Board for the Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, and in his spare time, Derek enjoys spending time with his wife and dogs, golfing, boating, dirt biking, riding his motorcycle, and traveling.

 

Katy Scott- Sr. Director of Facilities and Site Services for Roche Molecular Solutions

Katy Scott is the Senior Director of Facilities and Site Services for Roche Molecular Solutions in the South Bay, with oversight for diagnostics facilities in Santa Clara and San Jose. She has 19 years of experience in facilities management, engineering, and compliance in biologics and chemicals manufacturing. She has a Professional Engineer’s license in Chemical Engineering and is a Board Member for the Silicon Valley chapter of IFMA.

 

Michael Stover- Director, Problem and Incident Management, Information Services @ First Republic

Michael is a career IT professional with 20 + years of experience leading IT for multi-national organizations as well as hyper growth startups. His expertise is centered on global and national core IT services and high availability infrastructures. He’s enjoyed a successful career providing IT guidance for leading defense contractors, fin-tech start-ups, exponential technology trainers, and lately a leading national bank.
